Position Summary Information

Job Goal

Provide effective instruction and carry out assigned related responsibilities.
For face-to-face instruction on the Calmar campus and/or in surrounding communities.
Areas of instruction may include: Psychology, Sociology, History, Philosophy/ Ethics, Science, Math, Literature, English, Communication, Spanish, and American Sign Language.

Qualifications

The successful candidate will have a master’s degree in the content area of instruction or a master’s degree with a minimum of 18 graduate credits in the content area of instruction. The successful candidate must be able to meet the credentialing requirements of the NICC Quality Faculty Plan, meet all scheduled class and office commitments, and demonstrate respect for and sensitivity to diverse populations. Successful performance of duties requires competency and a comprehensive understanding of the content being taught.

Duties and Responsibilities

1. Possess a comprehensive understanding and direct experience within the area of instruction.
2. Possess necessary skills to organize and develop relevant curriculum and teach/evaluate student performance. Delivery of duties may include daytime, evenings, and/or weekends.
3. Meet all initial credential requirements and maintain credentialing in compliance with NICC Quality Faculty Plan.
4. Regularly engage in professional development activities, staying abreast of technological advances in the area of teaching.
5. Represent the college in a professional, positive manner with prospective, former and current students, staff, faculty, administrators, employers and community contacts.
6. Possess the ability to demonstrate respect for and sensitivity to a diverse student population.
7. Possess ability to develop, organize, and present various curriculum concepts to wide diversity of students.
8. Establish and maintain positive personal/professional working relationships with students, colleagues, staff, administrators, and all community contacts.
9. Possess ability to communicate orally and in writing.
10. Possess ability to work with personalities of diverse backgrounds in the classroom and in work groups with colleagues.
11. Assist with development of retention and recruiting strategies.
12. As an NICC employee, support the college mission and maintain conduct in a positive/professional manner which comports with NICC policies and procedures.
13. Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
