Position Summary Information

Job Goal

Provide effective instruction and carry out assigned related responsibilities.

Qualifications

An AAS degree (Bachelor degree preferred) in welding, metal fabrication, manufacturing process, Industrial Maintenance, and manual/CNC machining technology and programming, and/or at least three (3) years (600 hours) of recent and relevant work experience in welding technology, Industrial Maintenance, manual machining, and CNC operation and programming of CNC machines. Successful performance of duties requires competency and comprehensive understanding of various welding processes, manual and CNC machining procedures

Duties and Responsibilities

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
1. Possess a comprehensive knowledge in CNC machining centers, CNC lathe, programming, operation, Industrial Maintenance, and knowledge of welding processes, technologies and metal composition.
2. Possess necessary skills to organize develop, relevant curriculum and teach/evaluate student performance. Delivery of duties may include early mornings, evenings, and weekends.
3. Possess the ability to develop and teach online coursework.
4. Meet all initial credential requirements and maintain credentialing in compliance with NICC Quality Faculty Plan.
5. Regularly engage in professional development activities, staying abreast of technological advances.
6. Develop, monitor, and manage program budget consistent with applicable policy.
7. Represent the college in a professional, positive manner with prospective, former and current students, staff, faculty, administrators, and community contacts.
8. Possess the ability to demonstrate respect for and sensitivity to a diverse student population.
9. Possess ability to develop, organize, and present various curriculum concepts to wide diversity of students.
10. Establish and maintain positive personal/professional working relationships with students, colleagues, staff, administrators, and all community contacts.
11. Possess ability to communicate orally and in writing.
12. Possess ability to work with personalities of diverse backgrounds in the classroom and in work groups with colleagues.
13. Teach courses in accordance with objectives of the course outline as set forth by the department in which one is assigned.
14. Responsible for working with other faculty in curriculum development for lecture and lab classes.
15. Attend and participate in all scheduled faculty/department meetings unless excused by the Department Dean.
16. Assist program students in advising and registration.
17. Keep daily attendance records on all students to comply with federal financial aid guidelines.
18. Assist in recruiting students.
19. Submit reports on all students who may experience academic difficulty or in need of counseling.
20. Meet all scheduled class and office commitments.
21. Emphasize to student classes the expectation of prompt and regular attendance.
22. Keep accurate inventories of all equipment and supplies.
23. Conduct/chair technical program advisory committee meetings, one per term (i.e. Fall/Spring) consistent with applicable policy.
24. Assist with development of retention and recruiting strategies.
25. Serve actively on NICC and external committees to which appointed.
26. As an NICC employee, support the College mission and maintain conduct in a positive/professional manner which comports with NICC policies and procedures.
27. Perform additional professional duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor.

Essential Functions

Position involves work in a variety of settings including office, classroom, and travel to off-site work locations. Frequent (34-66%) standing, pushing, pulling, and grasping. Frequent (34-66%) reaching and viewing a computer and other types of close visual work. Constant (67-100%) sitting, walking, repetitive motion, talking and hearing.
