Position Summary Information

Job Goal

Work collaboratively with the Northeast Iowa Community College (NICC) marketing team in the execution of College print and electronic materials. Assist in maintaining the College’s brand integrity and image both internally and externally. Work closely with the directors of marketing and the marketing team in the design, implementation and/or measurement of marketing initiatives, print/electronic materials.

Duties and Responsibilities

The tasks listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional tasks related to the type of work of the class as necessary.
Collaborate with the marketing team in the development, implementation and distribution of print, electronic, editorial and promotional materials that contribute to the College’s marketing and communication initiatives, both internally and externally.
Design, create and/or edit internal, and external print and electronic materials, social media, videos, scripts and talking points.
Effectively communicate and collaborate with clients and external constituents to ensure accurate messaging and execution of project from concept to delivery.
Provide project management and assistance in coordinating projects among staff.
Strive to improve creativity and quality of print and electronic materials. Keep current with emerging technologies and trends through relevant publications, research and resources.
Work closely with the marketing team and client to ensure timely, accurate and brand consistent execution of print and electronic materials.
Provide excellent customer service to clients, partners and vendors.
Assist in soliciting requests for proposals for projects and media buys. Maintain accurate listing of vendors and specifications. Assist with media buying schedule and submission.
Provide support for Web and Social Media Manager by assisting in web and social media maintenance, monitoring and daily activity, executing electronic marketing, conducting research and other web and social media tasks.
Represent the marketing department at identified College events as a photographer, videographer and creating social media content.
Work with student social media representatives.
Represent the marketing department in College committees and groups with approval from immediate supervisor.
Provide photography coverage and video production, as directed by the Director of Marketing, Communication and Creative, to produce quality images used in print and electronic communications. Obtain and archive photo releases for internal and external subjects.
Assist in the accurate accounting of marketing expenditures.
Assist in maintaining inventory of marketing materials, including preparation and organization for College events and display.

Perform other duties as assigned by immediate supervisor.



Bachelor’s degree in marketing, graphic design, communications or related field required.
Experience with content management systems, social media, video production and editing, creation of print and electronic publications using Adobe Creative Suite. Portfolio required.

Must possess Iowa driver’s license.


Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, Adobe Acrobat, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Video Editing and Google products. Understanding of social media and how to engage prospective student. Strong copywriting, proofreading, graphic design skills required. Excellent organizational, interpersonal, customer service, communication, and creative skills with the ability to prioritize and execute tasks within a fast-paced deadline driven department. Ability to communicate and engage within a creative team and with internal and external clients.

ADMINISTRATOR: Work is directly related to assisting with running or servicing of the business or department.

Perform professional level work requiring a wide range of administrative, technical, scientific, engineering, accounting, legal, or managerial methods applied to complex problems; May plan or direct the sequence of department or division activities.

Supervise, instruct, or train others through explanation, demonstration, and supervised practice or make recommendations based on technical expertise; may have first-level supervisory duties including administration of performance feedback; or coordinate work activity schedules for teams.

Communicate information among co-workers, customers, vendors, and management; or speak before professional groups; may write complex articles and reports or develop presentations for specialized audiences; may read scientific or technical journals or reports.

Perform skilled work involving almost constant problem-solving; May be responsible for actions of others, requiring almost constant decisions affecting co-workers, clients or others in the general public.

Essential Functions


Position involves working in an office setting. Occasional (10-33%) standing, pushing, pulling and grasping. Frequent (34-66%) reaching and viewing a computer and other types of close visual work. Constant (67-100%) sitting, walking, repetitive motion, talking and hearing. Must possess a valid driver’s license and be willing and able to travel.
